The Fargo City Commission to vote on ending annexation efforts of Harwood land

FARGO — The issue of annexation of land in the City of Harwood by the City of Fargo appears to be headed to a resolution.

The land that is at the center of the annexation effort in Harwood is owned by Applied Digital, who is planning to build an AI data center. The company has spoken strongly against the annexation effort by Fargo.

On Monday, the Fargo City Commission is scheduled to vote to withdraw its resolution relating to the west half of the land into Fargo, which is in Harwood’s extraterritorial jurisdiction. The agreement also says Harwood will not annex the east half, which is in Fargo’s extraterritorial jurisdiction.

The resolution is good for 20 years, which is the maximum allowed by state law.

Flag Family News has reached out to Harwood Mayor Blake Hankey for comment, but he didn’t immediately respond.
