HARWOOD, ND – Ground has been broken on a new Veterans Memorial Center in the valley.
It’ll be built on the grounds of the Fargo National Cemetery near Harwood.
The site will include an indoor committal shelter, gathering area to be used by family and friends of the deceased veteran prior to or following the interment, a gallery to showcase the lives and service of veterans, office space for Veterans Administration staff, a breakroom for the Honor Guard, kitchenette, kiosk to assist with grave location, indoor restrooms and a garage to accommodate a hearse.
Legislators, Senator John Hoeven, Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak, local mayors and members of the Fargo Memorial Honor Guard joined VA Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs (USMA) Sam Brown, who attended the ceremony.
