WEST FARGO, ND – An annual tradition at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds returns this week.
The annual Holiday Lights at the Fairgrounds events kicks off Sunday at 5 p.m.
A drive-through lights experience, Holiday Lights at the Fairgrounds features a variety of holiday themed displays. The attraction has been in existence for more than 20 years.
Spread over more than a mile across the faigrounds, the nightly tradition will run through December 31. It’s open nightly from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Admission is $25 per car or $60 per limo or bus.
Several non-profits will receive a portion of the proceeds from certain nights. Those charities include the Red River Human Services, Red River Valley Fair Foundation, North Dakota FFA, North Dakota Autism Center, the United Way and Special Olympics.
Several special nights are planned as well:
- On December 2, pets will receive a free treat and the proceeds will benefit the Homeward Animal Shelter.
- College students will get a free hot chocolate with their ID on December 3.
- Anyone wearing a Christmas sweater on December 8 will receive a free hot chocolate.
- Nurse Appreciation Night is December 9, and nurses will receive $5 off admission with a nurse ID.
- Veterans with a military ID will receive $5 off on December 10.
- First responders will get $5 off admission on December 15 with a valid ID
- Teachers will get $5 off admission on December 17 with a teacher ID
Additionally, a holiday drive for the Golden Drive Homeless Kids will be held every day throughout the event. Non-perishable food, grab-and-go items, microwave meals, new clothing and new toys are among the critical needs, and all items will be able to be dropped off at the hot chocolate stand.
