Numerous “clippers” temps remain well below normal

What is normal?  Many have a hard time defining that.  Our normal high/low for the start of December is in the upper 20s and lows in the teens.   Instead we are having highs between 10 and 20 degrees which is WELL below normal but not record breaking.   WAYYYYY back in 1886 the start of December had HIGHS of -10 to -20 and nighttime lows of -30 to -35.   Now that is just unacceptable!!!

The next 5-7 days we will see numerous “clipper” systems moving through the N. Plains.   These fast moving systems typically don’t pack much punch in regards to snowfall but typically bring alot of wind and cold weather.   We will see a few of these pass through our area through the upcoming weekend depositing light snow.   Here is a look at a couple of models predictions of snow totals through Sunday:

Not a whole lot of snow but possibly enough to dust up the roadways with some slippery travel.  Temps will remain WELL below normal with highs generally remaining between 10 and 25 as we “warm up” ahead of the clipper systems then a blast of arctic air follows behind it.   This will be the pattern through early next week.

Don’t forget, the LRC winter weather outlook with Gary Lezak and myself will take place on the Jay Thomas show this Friday at 2pm.  We will be discussing the upcoming winter and even look a bit into early spring.  Bridgette Readel will join us to discuss how this will effect our AG community.
