STEWARTVILLE, MINN. – A student was shot early Friday morning outside a high school south of Rochester as the school’s high school wrestling team was preparing to depart for a tournament in Grand Forks.
Authorities in Stewartville say students and coaches waiting to board a bus heard a gunshot and found the student wounded. There was a second shot and deputies say an adult male was found dead from a self-inflicted wound. The student underwent emergency surgery in nearby Rochester.
Flag Family News reached out to Grand Forks Public Schools for comment as the team was scheduled to partake in a two-day event at Grand Forks Central High School, but the district’s athletic director was out of the office Friday.
Investigators are still looking into a possible motive and any connection between the shooter and the victim.
