Committee to vet 12 applications for N.D. Supreme Court vacancy

BISMARCK, N.D. – Twelve have applied for the vacancy on the North Dakota Supreme Court.

The vacancy was created when Justice Daniel Crothers announced his retirement.

The list includes judges and attorneys from across the state. A committee will begin vetting the candidates, with interviews to be held in early 2026.

Governor Kelly Armstrong will have three options when he receives the final list of nominees from the nominating committee – fill the vacancy by appointment, return the list to the committee and instruct them to reconvene or call a special election.
