Moorhead City Council member says she’s considering mayoral run

MOORHEAD, MINN. – A Moorhead City Council member says she’s considering a run for Mayor.

Lisa Borgen told Flag Family News on Friday that she’ll make an announcement in late January regarding whether or not she runs for Shelly Carlson’s post.

Borgen is a lifelong Moorhead resident. She’s served on the Moorhead City Council since 2024.

Carlson is running for Minnesota House District 4A as a Democratic-Farmer-Labor candidate. She’s served as Moorhead’s mayor since 2021, when she was appointed to fill the rest of Mayor Johnathan Judd’s term – and was elected to a full term in 2022. Prior to that, she served on the Moorhead City Council.
