US strikes Venezuela, captures Maduro and his wife

PALM BEACH, FLA. – President Donald Trump says the U.S. Armed Forces ‘conducted an extraordinary military operation’ late last night into this morning in the capital city of Venezuela.

The operation netted the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

“This was one of the most stunning, effective and power displays of American military might and competence in American history,” President Donald Trump said.

He said Maduro was captured ‘in the dead of night.’

Both face charges in the Southern District of New York ‘for their campaign of deadly narcoterrorism against the United States and its citizens.’

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the operation ‘was flawlessly executed.’

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Maduro is ‘not the legitimate president of Venezuela.’

“He is a fugitive of American justice,” he said.
