ST PAUL, MINN. — The Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety says he agrees with an assessment by The Axtell Group that security upgrades are needed at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul.
“I do think that the next step in safety and security at the State Capitol would involve a weapons screening process or program,” Commissioner Bob Jacobson said.
He spoke at an Advisory Committee on Capitol Area Security meeting Tuesday while the group was reviewing the Minnesota State Capitol Complex Security Assessment.
The five-member group includes two Senators and two Representatives, the Lieutenant Governor and Supreme Court Chief Justice.
