MOORHEAD, MINN. – Moorhead city leaders are set to act on a request for support of passenger rail service from the Twin Cities to Fargo-Moorhead.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation has identified the Twin Cities to Fargo/Moorhead as a priority corridor in the State Rail Plan. A study was conducted by the Federal Railroad Administration’s Amtrak Daily Long-Distance Service.
The study recommends a daytime route from the Twin Cities to Fargo/Moorhead. A wide-ranging group of Moorhead residents, including students and senior citizens, would benefit from increased access to rail transport. Additionally, a new rail service is expected to bring jobs and increased economic activity.
