Moorhead school board to review safety and security audit

MOORHEAD, MINN. – The Moorhead Area Public Schools board will review an audit of the District’s safety and security at its regular board meeting tonight.

The Zeal Education Group, based in Wilmington, Del., will present the results of the MAPS Safety and Security Audit, both in open and closed session. Dr. Jack Zamary and Mr. Mark Pompano will present for the Zeal Education Group and will start the open session by providing the overview, timeline of the process, purpose and scope, and methodology used.

“The audit was an extensive process involving comprehensive site visits, artifact reviews, focus groups, interviews and surveys with staff, students, and parents,” Steve Moore, Executive Director of Operations and Emergency Services, said in a memo.

The closed session will include a discussion and receipt of overall security briefings and reports on buildings, security systems, and infrastructure.

This school year a student was arrested after police found 1,500 fentanyl pills at Horizon Middle School, a student was arrested after officers found a gun at the alternative learning center, police found a gun near a student near the district’s Vista Center For Education after a disturbance at the career academy and a student was arrested after a knife was found outside the career academy.
