Neighbor likely saves Perham stabbing victim’s life, man arrested

PERHAM, Minn. – A man is arrested on several charges, including murder, after a stabbing in Perham.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and police officers responded to an apartment at an unspecified address where they say 22-year-old Cyrus Olson forced his way in and people saw him stabbing and assaulting a 45-year-old woman.

Authorities say a neighbor intervening and calling 911 likely saved the woman’s life.

The woman was able to get out of the apartment and into a friend’s a short ways away.

Perham EMS crews treated the woman, she was taken to a Perham hospital and later lifeflighted to another hospital and is in serious condition.

Olson was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, burglary, aggravated robbery and assault.
