Fargo Police to honor fallen officer Jason Moszer on ten-year anniversary of line-of-duty death

FARGO, N.D. – The morning of February is a day the Fargo Police Department will forever honor one of its own fallen officers.

Jason David Moszer was killed in a line-of-duty incident on February 11, 2016, while responding to a standoff in a north Fargo home.

The incident

The incident happened as a male threatened his wife and possibly shot a weapon at the woman. Police responded to the area of 300 9th Avenue North and set up a perimeter. Shots continued to ring out as the perimeter was set up.

A status check of officers was then conducted – with one not responding…Jason Moszer.

“Shortly thereafter, we received a call from a resident in the area, saying they can see an officer laying in the alley next to a squad car,” then-chief David Todd told the media the morning after the incident.

He suffered a nonsurvivable wound.

“Officer Jason Moszer was struck by gunfire, and right now his family is at the hospital with him, saying goodbye,” Todd said.

Moszer was taken to the hospital, where he eventually was pronounced dead.

Remembering Moszer

City officials will hold a memorial ceremony Wednesday, which will reflect on his legacy and the enduring influence of his service.

The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, at Fargo City Hall in the City Commission Chambers.
