On Saturday, February 28, the Minnesota State High School League released the eight team bracket for the MSHSL AA Boys Hockey 2026 State Tournament.
The Moorhead Spuds are looking to defend their 2025 state championship after securing the tournaments No. 2 seed. they will battle No. 7 seeded Lakeville South.
Thursday’s state quarterfinals matchup between the Spuds and Cougars will be a rematch from the 2025 state quarterfinals. The Spuds won the game 7-4 en route to eventually winning the programs first boys hockey state championship later that weekend.
After defeated Lakeville South, Moorhead edged Edina 4-3 in the semifinals before defeating Stillwater in the state championship game.
The game is scheduled to drop the puck at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 5. Full game coverage will be available with Larry Knutson on AM 970 / FM 93.1 WDAY Radio. Steve Hallstrom will have pregame and postgame coverage also on WDAY Radio.
