CHICAGO, IL. – University of North Dakota Hall of Famer and former Chicago Blackhawk Troy Murray has died.
He died earlier today after battling cancer. He was 63.
“Tory Murray was one of the all-time great players at UND,” said UND head hockey coach Dane Jackson. “He will be remembered mostly for what a genuine and selfless teammate he was. Troy’s humility and passion to help those around him was special. He was a high character guy that was an ultimate competitor that did anything to win. He was a true leader that left an indelible mark on our program.”
In two seasons with UND, Murray scored 55 goals and 74 assists in 80 games.
He was a third-round draft pick in the 1980 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks.
