NDSU WBB tops St. Thomas, advances to Summit League championship game

On Saturday, March 7 the top-seeded North Dakota State women’s basketball team defeated No. 5 seeded St. Thomas 63-51 in the Summit League women’s basketball tournament semifinals. The Bison improved to 28-3 on the season and are advancing to the conference championship game for the second time in program history.

Avery Koenen powered the Bison with a game-high 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting along with eight rebounds, four steals, and one blocked shot. Molly Lenz chipped in nine points while Marisa Frost added eight points, three rebounds, and one steal. Abby Krzewinski added six points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. After missing one game with injury, Jocelyn Schiller scored three points while adding two rebounds, one assists, and one steal in just over 28 minutes of game action.

Overall NDSU shot 46 percent (23-50) from the field while connecting on 87.5 percent (14-16) of their free throw attempts.

The Bison will battle No. 3 seeded South Dakota State in the Summit League championship game on Sunday at 3 p.m. with full game coverage available on CBS Sports Network. The winner on Sunday afternoons game will receive an automatic bid into the 2026 NCAA Division I National Basketball Tournament.
