North Dakota sweeps Omaha, advances to NCHC semifinals

GRAND FORKS, N.D. — One night after a quick start, the University of North Dakota men’s hockey team battled from behind and earned a hard-fought NCHC Quarterfinal sweep of Omaha.

Saturday’s 5-1 win is North Dakota’s 15th home win and second straight.

After Maxime Pellerin’s goal four minutes into the game, UND took over and scored five unanswered. Those five goals were by four players — led by Mac Swanson’s pair of goals.

“It was a tight, close game in the first period,” head coach Dane Jackson said in his postgame press conference.

The Fighting Hawks will host Minnesota-Duluth next Saturday in the NCHC semifinals. Puck drop is 6:07 p.m.
