On Saturday, March 14 the Minnesota Wild fell short against the New York Rangers 4-2 at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul. The Wild outshot the Rangers 48-18. Additionally, Captain Jared Spurgeon, skated in his 1,000th NHL game, all with Minnesota.

Matt Boldy scored a power play goal for the Wild, his 38th goal of the season. Danila Yurok found the back of the net for the 10th time this season. Vladimir Tarasenko, Yakov Trenin, and Quinn Hughes each recorded an assist in the game.

Filip Gustavsson struggles between the pipes, only saving 14 of the 18 shots he faced. His counterpart, New York’s Igor Shesterkin was outstanding, saving 46 of the 48 shots he faced.
The loss dropped Minnesota to 38-17-12 on the season. The Wild sit in third place in the Western Conference’s Central Division with 88 points, behind Dallas’ 92 points, and Colorado’s NHL-leading 97 points.
Minnesota will now welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs to St. Paul on Sunday night. Game coverage will be available nationally on TNT with the puck drop scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
