Twins drop series finale to Red Sox

The Minnesota Twins dropped their series finale to the Boston Red Sox 9-5 on Wednesday afternoon. Minnesota gave up five runs in the third inning.

Simeon Woods Richardson gave up seven runs  (six earned) over five innings and was tagged with the loss. Anthony Banda gave up two runs over one inning in relief. Justin Topa, Kody Funderburk, and Eric Orze each threw a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.

Ryan Kreidler hit a three-run homer while Austin Martin hit a solo home run. Brooks Lee picked up an RBI.

Minnesota fell to 11-8 on the season.

The Twins have an off day on Thursday before welcoming the Cincinnati Reds to Minneapolis for a weekend series. The series opener will be on Friday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m. with game coverage available on Twins.TV. Joe Ryan will get the nod for Minnesota while Brandon Williamson counters for Cincinnati.
