FARGO, N.D. – The Rape and Abuse Crisis Center and Rainbow Bridge Parenting Time Center changes its name to Sollera.
The non-profit’s leaders say they listened to how its former name was a barrier to people seeking their services.
“No one should have to find the ‘right’ words for what they’ve been through in order to receive support,” Sollera CEO Dr. Christopher Johnson said. “As we’ve listened and evolved, we recognized the need for a name that better reflects the full scope of our work and the experiences of those we serve.”
Sollera’s name is from sol, the Latin word for sun and soteria, the Greek goddess of safety and deliverance from harm.
“It reflects the warmth, strength, and protection we offer to every person who walks through our doors—and the full spectrum of services we now provide,” Sollera officials say.
Sollera offers 24-hour crisis support, advocacy, counseling, prevention education, and ongoing services for survivors of sexual violence and abuse, as well as
their loved ones. Victim services remain free and confidential.
