UPDATE 12:00 PM 12/5 – Fargo Police make an arrest in a deadly shooting.

Authorities say 30-year-old Steven Burrell of Fargo was arrested in Dubuque, Iowa Thursday night.

Police say they will release the name of the shooting victim Friday afternoon during a press conference.

5:30 p.m. 12/5/24 UPDATE: Fargo Police say the victim has died from their injuries, and that Wednesday’s shooting is being investigated as a homicide.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the victim’s family during this difficult time. The victim’s name will be released tomorrow afternoon, allowing for next-of-kin notification to be completed,” Criminal Investigations Captain Bill Ahlfeldt said Thursday evening in a statement. “Our Criminal Investigations Division is extremely dedicated to this investigation and our detectives and investigators are actively working on several leads. Based on the information we have at this time, we believe this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to our community. We continue to encourage anyone with information to come forward by calling the Red River Regional Dispatch Center at 701.451.7660. 5:00 p.m. UPDATE: Fargo Police say a victim was found with serious, life-threatening injuries resulting from a firearm, according to Criminal Investigations Division Captain Bill Ahlfeldt. The victim was transported to a local healthcare facility and is currently receiving medical care.

2:10 p.m. UPDATE: The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force are going into the next door building at the scene, which is at 4536 47th Street South in Fargo. An ambulance is also on the scene, according to our reporter on scene.

UPDATE: A woman living nearby says she heard sirens at the scene, and saw police rush into a building. Later, she saw a person put into an ambulance.

She says she hears police activity often in the area, and says she doesn’t always feel safe living there.

“I swear, almost every other day, there’s activity,” the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said.
