Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz deciding on running for a third term

MINNESOTA – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz says he may run for re-election in 2026.

He spoke with WCCO and said he would consider a third term if there was support from Minnesotans. That decision is expected sometime next year.

Walz says he wants to work with Republicans to create the next state budget noting that he worked with a divided legislature in 2019 and still managed to get some policies enacted.

The Minnesota Department of Management forecasted a surplus of $616 million for this legislative session. That’s much less than the $17.5 billion forecasted last year.
