(Fargo, ND) -- Two of what State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler calls the most important positions in North Dakota are set to be open for applications.
In an interview with WDAY Midday, Baesler talked about the importance of the two upcoming open seats in the state higher board of education.
"I can't think of a more important role for the state," said Baesler. "There's nothing more important than overseeing and touching so many lives in the educational system here in the state."
The positions of question currently belong to Jill Louters, of New Rockford, and Danita Bye, of Tioga, whose terms end on June 30th. Both Louters and Bye are eligible for appointment to a second four-year term, and may still apply. You can find out more about the application process by clicking here.
As for the overall state of schools here in North Dakota, Baesler says she has reasons to be extremely optimistic heading into the spring. "We saw our state buck the National trend for dropping test scores over the past year coming back from Summer, which is a major win for us," said the Superintendent. "Also, the amount of work and effort our teachers and staff across the state have put in as we get more and more back to normal with learning practices has been truly heroic."
