(Fargo, ND) -- Saturday is a special day for veterans in the area, and now everyone can take part in a decade-long tradition.

Derby for the Vets is set to take place for the very first time at Fargo Air Museum Saturday, February 12th. The organizer of the event says this year is even more special because the whole family can attend.

"Everyone can come, it's a truly special event that kids will talk about 50 years from now with their kids," said Derby for the Vets Director "Derby" Dan Jacobson. "Everything from juice boxes to seltzers will be there, and we have over 200 items in place for silent auctions as well. Not to mention a paper airplane race too."

Doors open for the event at 10:00 a.m. for registration Saturday, with the proceeds from the event going towards a $100,000 goal of community giving for the Fargo VA Hospital.
