Sanford Cuts Ribbon on New Fargo Lab and Pathology Building

(Fargo, ND) -- A new facility for Sanford Health is set to makes things much smoother for patients and employees alike.

Sanford Lab, located in the former PRACS Institute building at 4820 23rd Avenue South, officially opened its doors in early March and houses laboratory and pathology services that were previously dispersed among Sanford Fargo’s three medical campuses. The consolidation improves communication and collaboration among the teams, resulting in faster results for patients.

Services moving to the new facility include:

  • pathology
  • histology/gross tissue lab
  • cytology
  • microbiology and molecular biology
  • flow cytometry
  • quality and consulting

"It kind of felt like sardines at some points", said Sanford Health Dr. Angie Wood. "This gives us the space we need, with an emphasis on our hard-working employees being able to work on one sample at a time to keep patient safety at the forefront."

The provider previously had to ship samples across town to three other sites in some instances to get proper testing done.

On average, the Sanford Fargo laboratory and pathology teams perform around 5.5 million tests per year. Sanford Lab also runs COVID-19 tests.
