Ground Broken on New Fargo Davies Turf Field

(Fargo, ND) -- Years of planning and meetings with parents, community members and more led to groundbreaking on a brand new turf field at Fargo Davies High School Monday.

Turf Committee members, Principal Troy Cody, Assistant Principal and Activities Coordinator Lenny Ohlhauser, and Superintendent Dr. Rupak Gandhi gathered on the current grass field to put the first shovels in the ground and symbolically begin the project. Excavation by Hellas Construction Inc. will begin on May 17th. The project is expected to be complete by the end of July 2021, and a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the first home game in August.

The $1.3 million turf field is being privately subsidized thanks to a group of parents who began fundraising in 2018.

Turf fields give several advantages to athletics teams and other co-curricular activities, particularly in the event of inclement weather or prolonged winter weather. Additionally, the Davies turf will have expanded practice space for soccer, football, track, cross-country, softball, and baseball.
