Fargo Public Schools Receives $20,000 Donation for Mental Health Resources

(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo Public Schools will have additional funding to support the emotional wellbeing of students thanks to a large donation from R.D. Offutt Company and the Offutt Family Foundation.

A check presentation took place in the main lobby of the District Office building Friday. This $20,000 donation is part of R.D. Offutt Company’s Community Builder Program, which supports the charitable interests of its employees.

Fargo Public Schools will use the funds as part of its Multi-Tiered System of Supports program, which offers academic and behavioral interventions to support student wellness. Specifically, this donation will aid the District in continuing its services related to depression and suicide prevention.

Currently, Fargo Public Schools has counselors who support and assist students who may be at-risk for anxiety, depression, and/or suicide. The District also has student wellness and family facilitators who connect students and families to outside resources that match their needs.

Additionally, recent grant funding has allowed the District to establish temporary telehealth counseling for students and staff members to aid with mental health in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.
