NDSU to Receive $1.9 Million for Rare-Earth Element Research

(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota State University is getting a hefty chunk of change to research special materials.

The U.S. Department of Energy awarded $1,900,000 to NDSU for research on rare-earth elements.

"This funding will support NDSU’s efforts to strengthen our domestic supply of rare-earth elements, which is vital to U.S. manufacturing and competitiveness,” said North Dakota Senator John Hoeven.

The funds, which will be allocated over three years, are part of a nationwide investment in new technology solutions to secure the supply of critical materials important to U.S. economic, energy, and national security.
