Sanford Health Employees Host Food Drive for patients in Fargo

(Fargo, ND) -- Sanford Health employees who work in the clinical decision unit in Fargo are hosting a food drive to stock the Wellness Food Pantry for patients and their families who visit Sanford Southwest Children’s Clinic.

In response to the food insecurity some patients experience, Sanford teamed up with Great Plains Food Bank to start the Wellness Food Pantry last February. In order to qualify, families must be patients at the clinic and answer a set of questions related to the food security.

Now, employees in the clinical decision unit at Sanford Medical Center Fargo are organizing an employee and community food drive to stock the pantry.

“Our team wanted a way to give back to the community. We felt promoting better health by fighting against hunger was a great thing to do,” said Lisa Anglemyer, clinic care leader at Sanford Fargo’s clinical decision unit, which evaluates and monitors patients whose needs can often be met within 24-48 hours. “While the food drive was initially our team’s idea, we have received so much support from other departments that it grew to be a Sanford-wide and community effort.”

From now through October 1st, community members can drop off donations at Sanford Medical Center Fargo, Sanford Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and Sanford Broadway. People can drive up to any valet entrance and the valet staff will collect donations right from their cars.

The public is also encouraged to participate in the food drive virtually by clicking here.

A Great Plains Food Bank truck will pick up donations on October 1st at the following times:

  • 8-8:45 a.m. at Sanford Broadway Medical Center
  • 9-9:45 a.m. at Sanford Orthopedics & Sports Medicine (formerly Sanford South University)
  • 10-10:45 a.m. at Sanford Medical Center Fargo
