Decision on Mask Mandate in Fargo Schools to be Made Tuesday Evening

(Fargo, ND) -- After weeks of discussions and back and forth, we should know by Tuesday evening the future of masks in the Fargo Public School District.

The School Board is expected to discuss the current mandate in effect for the district at their meeting Tuesday, with the option to either move to a 'recommendation' of masks, similar to what the West Fargo School District is doing, or keeping their current mandate for all staff and students to wear the face coverings.

The decision comes on the heels of Fargo Cass Public Health releasing data this past week that cases among students have more than doubled in both Fargo and West Fargo Schools, though hospitalizations among children in the area have not been a factor.

Fargo is one of only two school districts, including Grand Forks, in the state requiring masks. The Moorhead Area Public School District also requires the face coverings.
