Hope Lutheran daycare services closing infant room

(Fargo, ND) -- Parents in North Fargo have received some unsettling news that is leaving them scrambling to find a new place to watch their children.

Hope Lutheran Church, which runs childcare services in the city as well, has announced they are closing their infant room due to staffing issues. The move causing parents to take to social media with pleas for help from area babysitters and other at-home businesses.

Representatives from Hope Lutheran confirmed the room closure to WDAY Radio Thursday, only adding that they are disappointed that they cannot continue the service, and that as with many job fields currently, they are spread very thin when it comes to workers.

According to Hope Lutheran's web site, the infant room took in children from the ages of six weeks to 18 months, and was to maintain a 1:4 teacher to child ratio. It is not clear just how below that ratio the daycare was at before the decision was made to end it. The last day of service for the infant room is scheduled for November 5th.

To this point, there are no plans to bring back the infant services, even if more workers are hired in the immediate future.
