(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo Police are asking motorists to slow down and increase following distances as the roadways are slippery.

Officers have responded to 11 crashes in the past half-day as snow and winds continue to whip around the metro.

"These preventable crashes occur when motorists are driving too fast for the conditions of the road and following too close and are occurring at intersections throughout the City," said Fargo Police Public information officer Jessica Schindeldecker in a statement released to WDAY Radio.

Failure to have your vehicle under control is a $60 fine.
