Moorhead police officer cleared in deadly force shooting

(Moorhead, MN)-- Wednesday morning the Clay County Attorney's office released a statement clearing a Moorhead officer from a deadly force shooting involving a man, Isiah Hopkins, that occurred July 4th, 2021. In the statement the attorney's office referenced their review of the case and video footage to the reason why the officer was cleared of wrong doing and criminal charges. 

The original incident began on July 4th 2021 when officers were dispatched to a disruption in the area of 404 Sunrise Circle in Moorhead. Officer Andrew Werk then identified an individual now known as Isaih Hopkins as the suspect. After a short pursuit, Hopkins went on to put his hands together in a shooting stance and Officer Werk fired his gun with deadly force. No charges will be filed against the officer.
