(Moorhead, MN) -- Law enforcement are beefing up patrols, specifically looking for impaired drivers, now through the New Year.

Minnesota State Patrol Sergeant Jesse Grabow says typically their busiest time of year is the holiday season. There is usually an uptick in drunk driving arrests, starting with the night before Thanksgiving, that has become one of the most popular bar nights across the U.S.

Over the past five years, the State Patrol says there have been more than 12-thousand people arrested for DWI between the night before Thanksgiving and December 30th.
