(West Fargo, ND) -- City officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday to celebrate the completion of the Sheyenne Street Urban Reconstruction project.

West Fargo Mayor Bernie Dardis was one of many officials who spoke at the ceremony. He stressed the importance of the urban reconstruction mission which has been taking place over the last three years. He specifically referenced the term "Streetscaping", or improving Sheyenne street's destination appeal while focusing on the area's "walkability" and safety. The project also improved water mains and both sanitary and storm sewers.

The Sheyenne Street Urban Reconstruction project was funded through a variety of sources, including grants from the North Dakota Department of Transportation Urban Grant, Prairie Dog funding and sales tax.
