(Fargo, ND) -- An investigation into the crash which killed one woman and seriously injured their partner has concluded.

The investigation conducted by North Dakota Highway Patrol says 72 year-old Clinton Juaire and 73 year-old Louise Juaire were driving southbound on I-29 with a trailer attached to their vehicle when it separated, but remained attached to the vehicle by safety chains. That is when the two stopped their vehicle in the middle of the highway to re-attach the trailer hitch to the receiver ball on their vehicle.

A second vehicle, driven by 22-year-old Taylor Hemmesch, was also heading southbound on I-29 when she struck the Juaire vehicle.

Clinton Juaire was transported to Sanford Hospital in Fargo with serious injuries, and Louise Juaire was pronounced dead at the scene. Taylor Hemmesch suffered no physical injuries.
