Driver admits looking at phone prior to deadly I-94 crash

(Cass County, ND) -- Authorities say 43-year-old Tim Hagerott has admitted to looking at his phone just before a deadly I-94 crash near Tower City.  

The crash happened the night of January 22nd when Hagerott crashed into a tow truck stopped on the interstate. The impact killed his 43-year-old wife Kelli, and severely injured him and his 14-and nine-year-old daughters.

Officials say 43-year-old driver Mario Butler had left his tow truck in the right lane of the interstate after experiencing mechanical issues and was driving with a suspended license.
