North Dakota Congressman Armstrong on new training for truckers: "This is a really bad deal"

(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota congressman Kelly Armstrong is expressing concerns about new federal training requirements for commercial truck drivers which went into effect Monday.

"This is a really bad deal. We already have a shortage of truck drivers and you're dealing with something where they say it's all done in the name of safety," said Armstrong.

Armstrong made the comment while speaking on AM 1100 The Flag's "What's on Your Mind" with Scott Hennen. The new CDL rules known as "Entry Level Driving Training", require drivers to complete their training through a specialized school, where enrollment fees can run several thousand dollars. Armstrong says the new requirement will put further strain on a supply chain already under significant pressure.
