(Fargo, ND) -- One person has died after a fire at an apartment building in South Fargo Sunday evening.

Fargo Fire Marshal Ryan Erickson says crews responded to a report of fire in an apartment unit at 1843 13 1/2 St. S. in Fargo at 6:29 p.m. Crews arrived to find fire in a lower-level unit. The building was evacuated and crews extinguished the fire within ten minutes.

During the course of fighting the fire, Erickson says a deceased person was discovered in the unit. There are no other injuries in this incident.

"There is only one unit in the complex that is not livable," said Erickson when reached for comments after the fire. "Everyone else should be aloud back in their homes."

The identity of the deceased person found inside is being held until family can be notified.

The cause of the fire and damage estimate are not available at this time, and the investigation into the fire is ongoing.
