(Grand Forks, ND) -- The Grand Forks City Council is moving forward with discussion of a series of hate crime ordinances.

The body voted unanimously Tuesday to advance the latest draft of the ordinances forward to a final vote. The first draft was viewed by the council last week, and afterward the city attorney's office drafted proposed ordinances for simple assault-hate crime, criminal mischief, and criminal mischief-hate crime, and harassment and harassment-hate crime.

One more hearing will be held before the next City Council meeting, when the final decision on the ordinances will be made.
