Biggest contract yet awarded in construction of FM Diversion Project - $115M for Minnesota company

(Fargo, ND) -- The Army Corps of Engineers has just awarded the biggest contract to date for construction of the FM Diversion Project.

"That's a really, really exciting time for us because that is one of the real keystones of this project to provide this flood protection for the Fargo-Moorhead metro area," said Kevin Denn, Technical Lead for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Denn tells WDAY News First that the Corps has awarded a $115 million contract to Ames Construction of Burnsville, Minnesota to build the Control Structure portion of the flood control project. Also, the first of three large steel gates to be used in the project have been delivered for assembly.  Once put together, the first gate will measure 50 feet wide by 26 feet tall.
