MATBUS sees bump in ridership following gas price hike

(Fargo, ND) -- The increase in gas prices are having a direct effect on transit systems in the Fargo Moorhead area. 

MATBUS says they have seen a 19 percent increase in ridership over the past six weeks. They cite a similar scenario occurring during 2008, where they saw a 12 percent rise in ticket sales and ridership. 

North Dakota gas prices have risen more than 60 cents compared to their averages a month ago. Regular gas prices in the state are sitting at $3.87 per gallon, with mid and premium prices costing close to 50 cents more per gallon.
