(West Fargo, ND) -- It is down to three for the name of West Fargo's newest elementary school.

District Business Manager Levi Bachmeier telling WDAY Midday Thursday that after the initial seven options were whittled down.

"We are really trying to focus on the community where the school is going," said Bachmeier. "That's why the board came down to this final three for the new school."

The three finalists for the school are now:

  • Rocking Horse Elementary
  • Veterans Elementary
  • Meadowlark Elementary

An official decision will come at the West Fargo School Board's next meeting Monday, April 25th.

This however may not be the only growth on the immediate horizon in the district, at least according to Bachmeier.

"The Long Range Facilities Plan Task Force will include a virtual component to make participation as broadly available as possible, while including some onsite tour opportunities to allow participants to better understand the current state and future needs of district facilities." Bachmeier added that the FM Diversion project could open the door to much more expansion of the district, including in the northern part of the city.

The projected growth by the 2026-27 school year in the district is expected to be up to 14,559 students, up over 2,000 from this past school year.
