Man arrested after throwing rocks at Fargo bank

(Fargo, ND) -- A man is being held in the Cass County Jail after causing thousands of dollars in damages to a local bank Monday morning.

The Fargo Police Department says that at 8:28 a.m. Monday morning, officers received reports of an individual throwing rock projectiles at the windows of Bell Bank at 3100 13th Avenue South.

Authorities responded to the scene and arrested 41-year-old Jeremy Wayne Peterson, who has no permanent address. Peterson was unsuccessful at gaining entry into the facility, but caused damages estimated to be between $10,000 to $15,000.

Peterson was arrested on the following eight charges:

  • Four counts of terrorizing (Class C felonies)
  • One count of criminal mischief (Class C felony)
  • One count of Reckless endangerment (Class C felony)
  • One count of attempted robbery (Class C felony)
  • One count of an assault on a security officer (Class B misdemeanor)

Peterson was medically-cleared at a local healthcare facility and is currently in the Cass County Jail. No Bell Bank employees or customers were injured in the incident. Bell Bank’s drive-up at the location is temporarily closed.

The incident remains under investigation.
