IRS tax preparer files fraudulent returns in North Dakota

(Fargo, ND) -- A tax preparer from Houston, Texas is under investigation by the Internal Revenue Service for allegedly filing fraudulent tax returns in North Dakota and at least 14 other states.

Court documents say Casper Koto prepared and filed nearly three thousand returns that generated nearly 12-million dollars in refunds.

Over a third of the tax returns involved clients from North Dakota. No charges have been filed in the case.
