Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Dr. Scott Jensen calls for eliminating personal income tax

(Fargo, ND) -- Minnesota Republican gubernatorial candidate Dr. Scott Jensen is calling for phasing out the state's personal income tax.

"Minnesotans are literally the top 5 or 10 percent, but most of the time the top states tax-wise. I don't care if you are talking about estate taxes, corporate taxes, sales taxes, personal income taxes, property taxes, it doesn't stop," said Jensen.

Jensen is also calling for clamping down on government spending and regulations as part of his plan for helping Minnesotans deal with the highest inflation rate in 40 years. Part of Jensen's tax relief proposal includes returning about $4,000 to $5,000 for every family of four. The state has a remaining budget surplus of roughly $7 billion.

The latest poll from MinnPost shows 42 percent of voters supporting incumbent Governor Tim Walz, while 40 percent say they plan to vote for Jensen.
