(Fargo, ND) -- Among the topics discussed during Tuesday evening's Fargo School Board meeting, the emergence of a new board President and Vice President occurred.

After discussions, board members decided on Dr. Tracie Newman to be appointed as the new President. Newman, who has served on the board since 2020, also serves as a Pediatrician for Sanford Health and as the Health Officer for Fargo Cass Public Health. Newman was one of the school board members heavily criticized for her decision making and ties to FCPH during COVID-19 restrictions and mitigation talks involving the school district at the height of the pandemic. She takes over the roll from Rebecca Knutson, who finished just outside the top five in voting this past June and is no longer a board member after serving several terms.

Seth Holden was also nominated by the board to serve as the new Vice President. Holden, who also works as a general contractor in the area, takes over for Robin Nelson, who was re-elected in June to the board but will now relinquish the role inside the structure of the group. Nelson had expressed some interest in possibly serving as Board President before Newman was appointed.
