(Moorhead, MN) -- Transportation officials in Moorhead Public Schools are speaking about the need for additional drivers in the district.

WDAY Radio spoke with two Moorhead Area Public Schools officials within the district's Transportation department. Steve Moore, the Director of Operations and Emergency Management, and Sean Schneider, the district's newest Transportation Supervisor, spoke on the need for additional drivers.

"From a year ago to today, not a lot has changed as far as the availability of bus drivers, "said Steve, "We have a need and it's a great opportunity to spend time with some great kids and be of service to our community."

The Director of Operations says more drivers leads to a myriad of benefits. Specifically, it will reduce the amount of time kids will need to spend on buses.

"We can make more efficient routes, have fewer kids on the buses, and shorter route times, " said Steve," It's better for not only our drivers but for our kids. Less time they spend on the bus and we can get them to and from quicker."
