New Postcard mural in Downtown Fargo captures key parts of area

(Fargo, ND) -- A lot has changed in Fargo over the past four years, and some of the newest artwork on display Downtown is set to reflect it.

Abovo Creative Director Andrew Young tells WDAY Midday the changes were due, mainly since the material they used began to show a little bit of wear and tear.

"We're pretty fortunate to use great material with the mural near Roberts Alley," said Young. "But I noticed a short time ago it was starting to wear just a little bit, and we pride ourselves on it looking brand new always. It was time."

Young says the changes, for the most part on the mural, will be minimal. They include the addition of Broadway Square and the Jasper Hotel to Downtown Fargo, as well as removing the red pickup truck and adding signs for equity and inclusion.

"The goal was since the original postcard mural was so loved, to not change it too much, rather tweak it a bit to reflect on the changes we've seen not only in Fargo, but specifically in Downtown Fargo," said Young. He also added that the changes reflect what's important for all of Fargo as the city itself changes.

The old postcard was removed Wednesday, with the new one set to be all finished up by the end of the day Thursday.
