(Fargo, ND) -- The Fargo Police Department are releasing the names of four officers involved in yesterday's shooting in Mapleton.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of shots fired in Mapleton and set up a perimeter around the scene. During the incident, the Sheriff's Office requested assistance, and multiple agencies, including the four Fargo officers, responded to the area. Cass County Sheriff Jessie Jahner says an armed individual, now identified as 35-year-old Andrew Martinez, in the area was experiencing what he described as a "mental health crisis", which was eventually linked to the prior gunshots.

"After a long period of negotiating, and several attempts to get the responsible to come out of the residence unarmed, the responsible told the negotiators, several times, that he would be coming outside with a firearm," he said.

The individual eventually attempted to exit the residence with their firearm. That is when the four officers shot the individual. The following list includes the names of the officers...

  • Sergeant Travis Moser, an eighteen-year veteran with The Fargo Police Department.
  • Detective Josh Heller, a six-year veteran with The Fargo Police Department.
  • Detective Ryan Jasper, a six-year veteran with The Fargo Police Department.
  • Investigator Jordan Korte, a four-year veteran with The Fargo Police Department.

The officers have been placed on paid administrative leave while the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation conducts an investigation into the officer involved shooting. You can see our original story by clicking here.
